Join us at the library for an hour-long book discussion of: Captain Alatriste, the swashbuckling hero of the first in a magnificent adventure series of six historical novels from the acclaimed Spanish author Arturo Pérez-Reverte.

Captain Alatriste y Tenorio, a retired soldier and veteran of Spain’s Flemish wars, works as a hired sword in the 1620s which inevitably leads him into some dicey situations; the one detailed here is a commission to assassinate, under the cover of darkness, two Englishmen on a visit to Madrid. And what happens next is only the first in a series of riveting twists and turns, with implications that will reverberate throughout the courts of Europe. Splendidly paced and filled with a sense of the history and spirit of the age, this is popular entertainment at its best.

Our monthly meetings are entertaining, and informative. Read the book and come for the chat, coffee and croissants!

Reminder: In order to register and to get copies of the book, please call 514-485-6900, ext. 4110 or ask to speak with María Luisa.
