This intimate concert will spotlight three performers from the Musicians of the World Symphony Orchestra:  Keiko Otani (oboe), Radu Covaciu (clarinet), and Mariana Muscaliuc (piano).  The program will feature light classical music by Bach, Mozart, Saint Saens, Weber & Morricone.

Derek-Yaple-Schobert_Concert_500pxThe second concert of our fall series is coming up soon, on Thursday October 30 at 7 pm. Derek Yaple-Schobert will be at the Harold Greenspon auditorium playing Piano Favourites and Beyond!

This gifted young pianist will be playing classical pieces by composers including Debussy, Beethoven, Grieg, and Lizst.

Derek had performed all over Canada and the world. Join us on October 30 to enjoy his performance here in Côte Saint-Luc!

Tickets for the concert are $5 and are on sale now at the front desk of the library.

For our first concert of the fall season, we’re excited to present noZen chante!, a special presentation by the group noZen of Malasartes Productions.

Led by Damian Nisenson, noZen performs original music inspired by South American folk traditions and Eastern European Jewish music.

The link between John, Paul, George, and Ringo and Montreal may not appear obvious, yet it turns out there is plenty to discuss! Craig Morrison will tell us about the connection between our city and the Fab Four in their heyday. Morrison is an ethnomusicologist, a long-time instructor at Concordia University, an author, and a musician in popular local rock ‘n’ roll band Vintage Wine.

In celebration of the Beatles’ 50th anniversary, come find out why their music has stood the test of time!

This is the third free concert presented as part of Summer in the City!

The Bagg Street Klezmer Band was formed in 1991 in the old Jewish Quarter of Montreal, taking its name and its inspiration from the historic Montreal Synagogue situated at the corner of Bagg Street and Clark Street. Since then, the band has played often at concerts, weddings, and festivals, including the Montreal International Jazz Festival. The Bagg Street Klezmer Band’s music features clarinet, violin, keyboards, accordion, saxophone, trumpet, and percussion.

In case of rain on the day of the show, please call 514-485-6900, ext. 5503 for further instructions. The concert may be moved indoors to the Harold Greenspon Auditorium. A limited number of rain passes will be available.

Vintage Wine specializes in authentic rock ‘n’ roll and soul from the 1950s and 1960s. Founded in 2003, the band has played to great acclaim at concerts, dances, conventions, weddings, reunions, and house parties. The members, all vocalists, are Gary Sharkey (drums), Craig Morrison (guitar), Alex Nesrallah (keyboards and guitar), and Ryan Fleury (bass). They have recorded several CDs.
