The Library, in collaboration with the Conseil des arts de Montréal en tournée will present the Compagnie Baroque Mont-Royal. Throughout the 18th-century, all of fashionable London loved to gather in gardens to hear singers and instrumentalists perform popular works of the day. We hope to recreate this ambiance by performing selected airs and dances conceived for the theatre – works written by the celebrated English composers Purcell, Handel, and Locke. The freedom and imagination of the English garden is captured in the cheerful, pastoral nature of these pieces. Performers include:  Ellen Wieser, soprano ;  Vincent Lauzer, recorder; Mélanie de Bonville, baroque violin;  Sari Tsuji, baroque violin; Camille Paquette-Roy, baroque cello and  Susan Toman, clavecin.
